the little one

The heat in her,
my little one,
as the scale passed beyond normal,
and the way she cried,
over my shoulder.............

and she said something,
in painful tears,
as i put medicine in her little mouth.

and she wouldn't allow me
to go beyond her reach
even for a minute.
